Wu Jianqing, Chairman of the Enshi Prefecture CPPCC and head of the tea industry chain, introduced that Enshi Prefecture, as Hubei Province’s largest tea-producing region, is closely following the development of the provincial-level “Chutian Hao” tea brand. The prefecture boasts over 1.82 million mu of tea plantations, with an annual output of dry tea exceeding 130,000 tons and a comprehensive industrial output value surpassing 25 billion yuan, enabling 830,000 tea farmers to embark on the path to prosperity. In recent years, Enshi’s “one red, one green” teas have frequently appeared at numerous diplomatic and state-level events, earning increasing recognition from tea enthusiasts and favor from consumers. As the fame of Enshi selenium-rich tea, Enshi Yulu, and Lichuan Red continues to rise, bolstered by the provincial public brand “Chutian Hao,” Enshi Prefecture’s tea industry has maintained a steady and healthy growth momentum.
In recent years, Enshi Prefecture has closely focused on the goal of building “China’s Tea Valley,” leveraging its unique advantages—“rich in selenium, cool climate, and lush green tea”—and following the requirements for developing a complete tea industry chain. It has coordinated and promoted the development of tea culture, the tea industry, and tea technology in an integrated manner. As a result, the tea industry has become Enshi Prefecture’s key driver for increasing farmers’ incomes, fostering health-oriented industries, and advancing ecological sustainability—a vivid embodiment of the principle that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” in Enshi. With more than 2,480 tea-processing enterprises across the prefecture, the tea industry provides over 20,000 stable jobs annually. Today, the tea industry has become a cornerstone for Enshi Prefecture to consolidate and expand upon its achievements in poverty alleviation and to promote the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas.
On August 16, the launch ceremony for the Chu Tian Hao Tea Frontier Tour was held in Wuhan, marking the beginning of a tea promotion journey that will pass through 31 cities and cover a total distance of over 18,000 kilometers. This initiative aims to enhance the brand awareness and influence of Hubei Province's tea industry, promote the upgrading and transformation of Hubei’s tea sector as well as that of Enshi Prefecture, and set the stage for a new path of high-quality development.
